There are a lot of different types of memory, and it’s essential to choose one that’s compatible with your notebook computer. Since memory is a little delicate, you need to take extra care in handling it.
How to Add Computer Memory Turn off your Notebook and disconnect it from any exterior power supply. If lights are still visible, double check for any live power sources before continuing.
Unlike desktop PCs, Notebooks doesn’t need to be taken apart in order to add memory. Usually located at the bottom of the laptop are the panels where you can access the memory slots. You can use a small screwdriver to open the panel and see the existing memory. When you open the memory panel, you should be able to see the front of the memory strips, making it easy for you to know the exact type of memory your Notebook uses.
The memory strips are locked in on the ends of the strips using small clips. You can gently pull the memory strips from their holding place once you’ve flipped the clips. If there is space available and you just want to add a new memory, then gently push it in to ensure it’s fully seated in the slots then close the clips so the new memory will be held in place.
Replace the access panel and screw it back into place once you’re done replacing or adding your Notebook computer memory.
Turn on the Notebook to check if the memory can be read. It should count the memory and inform you about its access once the PC starts up.
If problems occur, what you need to do is repeat the procedure and check carefully if the memory is seated properly in your Notebook.
