So, here you are then, in your new house! Its a bit of a mess though because the previous owner was in a rush to sell and had been in the middle of redecorating. But, you don’t really mind that though, since it gives you the perfect chance to do your house up just the way you want it.

Office Decorating

It’s been at least a year now since you moved to your new work place and officially took over your new office. At first, you were busy coping with a new home and learning a new job, but now that you’re settled in you start noticing the same things that you noticed when you first arrived.

The walls are a boring, drab colour and are looking decidedly depressing. The sun streaming in through the industrial quality blinds is barely enough to light a mouse hole and the furniture is just about as grotty and plain as it can get. You figure that an acceptable amount of time has passed for you to start redecorating your office.

Of course, before you commence it’s always a good idea to make certain that those in charge don’t have a problem with your stylish redecorating plans. And remember that it is only an office and so you should treat your plans to redecorate as such.

Emulsioning the walls a snazzy red colour probably won’t work. However, you could brighten things up a bit by repainting the walls a bright and jolly colour that won’t be an eyesore to anyone, least of all you. Then you could always take down those ancient blinds that have been hanging there since the early 1980’s and replace them with something more pleasing and modern.

On the other hand, if the whole of the office is done up in the same style with the same blinds hanging on every window, your stylish changes might not be appreciated by your colleagues. So think twice before doing something that changes the whole look and dynamic of the entire office.

There are, however, simpler methods you can use to carry out your office decorating project without too much hassle to you and which doesn’t necessarily take too much thought. You could brighten up any room by placing a couple of flowering plants here and there around your office.

These work well too, and will show your co-workers another aspect of your character. But, don’t get stressed out over anything though – you really don’t need a simple decorating job to add to the rest of your worries. Besides, an office decorating project should be fun and stress free.

Remember, your office decorating project should not involve your upsetting the whole office, or yourself. It should be something that you can live with on a daily basis.

After all, you’re at your office most of the day, so it should be a place where you can be just as relaxed as you are in your own home.

By keeping the exterior painting plans to the necessary minimum, you can spend more time and creativity to the interior. And, as they say, there’s no time like the present, and be honest, when are you going to get round to redecorating your house again?

Don’t become alarmed though, when I’m talking about out of this world interior painting ideas I’m not saying that you should do something that resembles a Picasso painting. I’m talking about something more along the lines of a paint job that will reflect back who you are.

Yes, they are both used to enable you to see more effortlessly, but highlighting the pages of a book or a shaving mirror is not quite the same as using a soft light to highlight a statue of the Madonna in an alcove.

Idly, you glance about your kitchen and notice a fleck of paint on the corner of the door. It had been there for years but you never really took any notice of it before.

Your gaze continues to stray and your eye gets caught by a patch of mildew seeping in under the sink, then you see the ugly brown colour that your ceiling has turned right above where the cooker is.

The paint is slightly off colour, and the only papered wall is beginning to look old-fashioned and grubby. You take a strengthening sip of your now-ready coffee and decide that a little bit of kitchen decorating is called for.

How do you go about it though? And how soon can you get into it? Now that you’ve finally noticed all the little bits and pieces of decay that you were quite successfully ignoring up until that moment, you can’t wait to begin your little kitchen decorating project.

However, this is decision time. Just how modest do you mean to keep your kitchen decorating project? Can you get away with just sloshing a fresh coat of paint on everything or will you need to go to the trouble of stripping the wallpaper off the wall, and finding out what had caused that mildew stain.

It all depends on you and your finances, but if you have the time, energy and money, you’d probably be better off, in the long run. to get rid of all your kitchen decorating problems at once. That would include stripping off the wallpaper, replacing any carpeting or rugs, and maybe even sanding down your wooden floors if you have them. However, if you’re going to do a complete job of kitchen decorating, you’ll also need that all important final coat of paint to smarten up your kitchen.

You might also want to think about replacing those old lace curtains as they’re also probably looking distinctly ratty by now. So go ahead and splash out on your kitchen decorating project and replace the curtains and while you’re at it you might want to think of investing in a new set of tea towels as well. It doesn’t hurt to go the whole hog when you can.

And when you’re finally finished, you will be able to sit back and enjoy your new kitchen and remember that weekend morning that started it all off. You’ll have no regrets whatsoever, since your kitchen decorating project has provided you with a far better kitchen than you had ever expected.

A feeling of contentment rushes through you as you bring your new coffee mug to your lips. Life just doesn’t get any better than when you’re enjoying the fruits of your efforts and labour.
