Great Team Building Activities To Help Families

Family is the foundation of society with robust associations within the family helping the members feel robust and secure. A good family base instills values of relationships in growing kids and I have noticed that those families that play games and do activities stay together with respect, faith and trust in the institution with better communication abilities.

I fully support events for team building in families that not just build synergy, but also hold the family together. Team building events and exercises have helped in building interpersonal relationships and offering great enjoyment that in turn fosters better communication and team spirit towards a common aim. The frequency of these events does not matter as much as their helping one and all in building oneness.

Some of the team building activities and exercises that have really helped are:

Help My Blind Brother Out:

This interesting group event gives every member in a group a chance to feel the advantages of group synergy and instills a cooperative spirit in every member of the group with the lesson that cooperation helps in the fulfillment of bigger goals.

The members are first divided into two equal teams. Some random items like a seat, table, a ball, and bucket should be scattered about the room. The two classes stand on opposite sides and one member from every group is blindfolded.

The two blindfolded members have to go to the other side without bumping into any of the objects scattered around or the blindfolded member of the opposing group.

The other team members help their blindfolded member in the pursuit by giving directions and hints. A point is awarded for each successful attempt and the team getting the most points wins.

These are a few my favourite activities:

This event has been very helpful for extended families in getting to know more about the events that the children and other new family members enjoy performing. It proves actually functional in family reunions to help everyone get to know each other better.

All the members of the extended family stand in a circle and every one takes a turn to demonstrate what they like to do in actions, this continues until he or she is correctly told what the actions depict. This can also be played with a variation where a favourite animal or food is depicted and guesses have to be made.

This activity has helped numerous individuals realize that most of them ultimately had lots of common likes and dislikes and helped others play a role in encouraging each other to carry out the activities they always wished to.

Building a Family Bond

Building a family bond has never been easy in real life nor will this activity be simple either, but it will definitely build ingenuity and patience among the family members, occasionally in the extended family as well. The activity begins with all members standing in a small circle as close to every other as they can.

Then every one extends his or her hands and with each hand holds the hands of a different person. Then they strive to untangle the bonds so created without letting go off any one?s hand. This activity not just builds synergy, but also instills a feeling that patience and creativity has helped solve most concerns in a group, be it in a family or in a team at work.

Five Steps On The Road To Spiritual, Physical And Financial Success

Are you looking for the path to success? Are you tired of scraping and pinching to make ends meet?

Have you had it up to here with schemers who tell you they know all about you even though you have not met before telling you all you need to do to achieve fabulous wealth is to buy into their latest “business opportunity?”

You can’t go anywhere these days without someone in your face touting the next great road to success that will make you an extremely wealthy person in just a few short hours. All you have to do is follow his simple formula to guaranteed instant success. Yeah, right.

These cons and half-truths actually hide the real steps one can follow to achieve true success. There really is a method and it does promise you success. It is however, not available in any market for any price.

Follow the five steps outlined below and you will find the fulfillment you seek at no cost.

1. Find your calling. What is it that in your heart you feel is the real you? What is your spot on the planet? Can whatever it is support you and your family? If you know your calling and can answer yes to the question about supporting you and your family, do not hesitate to follow through on that thought. Doing something you love is the ultimate path to success.

2. Are you working on securing success? Are you motivating yourself along the right road or are you standing in front of yourself blocking the road? Take a careful look at your actions, thoughts and motivations before automatically coming to the conclusion that you can’t go ahead because external forces are holding you back.

3. Free your imagination. The world of facts is limiting, the world of the imagination knows no bounds. Unfetter that imagination and let it run free and you will find no obstacles in your path and no limits to how far you can go.

4. Believe in yourself. Self confidence can achieve wonders. Let yourself shine.

5. Give back to your family, your community, all those people and institutions that have encouraged you along the way. By giving, you will be helping someone else, and funny enough it all comes back to you. Maybe its karma or fate, call it what you want, but there really is something to the concept that what you give to others will come back to you and your loved ones in many ways.

You can find a way to keep your head above water and reach the success you desire. Spend some time to discover your own personal path and don’t let your imagination fail you. You will be amazed at what lies ahead when you do.

A Little Separation Is A Good Thing

Imagine it, you might even remember it, you are a helpless baby and then toddler; you spend all day each day with your mother and or father and they make you feel safe and sound and then, one day, they take you for a stroll, introduce you to some strangers and leave you there.

I was six years old – over 50 years ago – but I remember it very well. I remember crying inconsolably and my mother looking in through the classroom window at me, crying as well. I had no notion what was going on or how long I would have to stay there.

I am certain they all told me and I do seem to remember mum saying that it was just for eight hours, but I am not sure that I knew how long eight hours was or why I was ‘at school’. I think that that first hour set the tone of my school experience for the day, but I soon got over it and loved school within a week.

That day would have been in September 1960. I was my mother’s first child, so she had no experience sending a child off to school and neither did I. I should not think that the council gave advice on the subject and my grandparents would have advised mum to merely give me to the teacher and leave quickly.

I discovered later that it was a hard day for my mother, but her following four children did not suffer the anxiety that I had. I suppose they understood that I was already there and that I had not suffered for it. In fact, I liked it.

If this separation has to happen because the children are going to go to state school, it is worth practicing for the big day, so that it does not come as such a shock.

However, if the child is to get homeschooled, it is probably even more important to separate yourself from your child fairly often.

It is vital for all children to realize fairly early on that merely because parents leave them with strangers, it does not mean that they will never see each other again and that it is very unlikely that any injury will come to anyone during (or because of) the self-imposed separation.

The easiest way to begin these separations is probably to leave the child with a trusted relative as a babysitter when you go shopping or on a break to the hairdresser’s.

Later, you can use real, non-family babysitters while you go out for the night. Later still, the child could stay with a grandparent or someone, while you go away for the weekend.

If, one parent works and the other remains at home, why not take your child to visit its other parent at work, so that it knows what mum or dad is doing while they are away? If you cannot take the child into the place of work, you could meet for luncheon or pick them up after they finish once in a while.

The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword. The Truth Will Set You Free

Platitudes both, yes, but not without a large grain of truth. If you were heading into battle, what would you want with you? A gun? A sword? A bayonet? A tank? An army?

If the thought of going into battle ever crosses our mind, whether that battle is waged against an army of men, an army of ants invading your kitchen, or attacking the grime in the garage, your first instinct is to grab the mightiest weapon at your disposal to get the job done. You want to conquer the miserable offender as quickly as possible.

The current economy is putting extreme pressure on families just to maintain from paycheck to paycheck. At the same time the internet is bragging about making millionaires over night. All this information can be challenging. How does a person achieve their own personal success? How does one start on the road to prosperity and not stray?

Lots of people these days swear by their personal financial advisors, mixed portfolios and software created just for them to optimize their personal assets and capitalize on them. When arming themselves, though, many leave behind the most important item – the words of truth that help them make the most of their arsenal.

Lessons of Truth are the Most Important Weapons You’ll Ever Possess

Ask any martial arts master and they’ll tell you this. It doesn’t matter how many weapons you have hanging on your walls if you don’t have the first clue how to use them. Without capable, knowledgeable hands on the hilt, a sword is just another piece of metal. A gun is just one more lump of small parts. They might look intimidating, but they’re not going to do you any good.

The most important step on the path of success is the training, learning the techniques that will take you from where you are now to where you want to be. In this case we’re not just talking about learning how to balance a checkbook or read trends on the stock market. We’re not talking about devouring every self-help book in the self-help section of your local bookstore.

No, we’re talking about something much more important than that. We’re talking about learning the lessons of truth that shape our lives. The words spoken by old masters tell us that the only real limitation on our success is how far our imaginations can climb. Who states that somewhere out there is a path of success for all of us, if we just learn how to find it and if we can have the faith to follow it through.

Take a moment to let these words sink in. Arm yourself with the timely eternal truths that lie within their meaning. Do this and you will have the arsenal you require to achieve success in whatever capacity you choose.

Is An Online Higher Qualification Right For You?

It is difficult to achieve a higher qualification, that is the whole point of them. Having a degree says that that person was dedicated and hard-working enough to devote plenty of time to studying a given issue to a very high degree. However, you can up those figures if the person has achieved a degree or higher qualification on line.

It is far more difficult to keep to a timetable if there is no one behind you prompting you to get on with your study. When you work with most degree courses on line, there is no regular support accessible to support you.

In fact, you might have your efforts checked once a month, once a quarter, once a year or not at all, depending on the course you have chosen. The more human interaction there is, the dearer the course naturally.

Therefore, you ought to take a long hard look at yourself and your character before buying or signing on for an on line degree course. There follows in this piece a list of the most important qualities that an on line degree student will require in order to have a good opportunity of success.

Patience: as we all know, patience is a virtue and that is certainly the case if you have to do all your own research. In a normal college, most of the research work is given to you in class or in the course books or you can ask your lecturer for advice, but if you study at home you are on your own.

The Internet has made research simpler, but the industrious student has to check and recheck all information before depending on it as there is much of nonsense on the Net too. This all takes time and patience, but the aspect in your favour is that you can study whenever you like.

Initiative: you have to be able to set deadlines and keep to them, especially if you have to hand in essays. You will be required to meet deadlines without support or encouragement. You will need to plan for unseen calamities which could throw you off course.

Desire: desire to get your qualification will be a driving force that you can harness to drive you on through the lonely small hours. You have to keep your goals right before you at all times. You will probably not get through the course, if you do not actually care sufficiently.

Organization: when you have a teacher nagging you to get things done on time, you do not really need to be properly organized, but the opposite is a fact if you are working alone. You need to be able to note things down in, say, a diary, and keep to deadlines that you have set yourself. A desk diary is a must here.

An on line organizer like Microsoft Outlook is a boon, but you lose everything if your computer crashes and that is one thing that you cannot afford to let happen. By all means enter your data into Outlook too, but do not rely exclusively on it.

Determination: determination is linked to desire. Desire fuels willpower. If you are determined to get through the degree and determined to obtain a good grade, you will have a bigger chance of achieving your goals.

How To Create Effective Teams In Life

Most events in life are built on effective teamwork. Families are teams depending on teamwork to leave everybody’s life better or easier. Production depends on team to manufacture a viable commodity and office staff have to work as an solid team to sell the items or services that the company deals in and recover outstanding overdue payments.

Even countries depend on teamwork: a country’s civil service and bureaucracy is made up of thousands of teams from the highest cabinet ministers to the team of refuse collectors that keep our cities tidy.

Even if you work alone, you rely on others to provide your raw materials, keep the Internet going or to deliver your goods by mail. None of us can truly work alone any more and maybe no one ever really could.

Once you comprehend this fact, you should look around you to see which teams you are in. A family team? Almost certainly. A community team? Probably. Do you play a sport? Are you working?

Or searching for a job with the help of a government agency? Do you go to school? Even a class is just a big team. One unruly student can destroy the concentration of the teacher and the students.

Outside the microcosm and into the macrocosm, you are a resident of your town and a citizen of your country and even the world as a whole. Working at building the team is everyone’s obligation, because an effective team is more successful at attaining its goals which usually include enriching the members of the team.

Family members can endeavor to pull their weight, try not to become a burden and strive to help the weaker or younger members in the family. They can do their utmost at school or at work, so as not to become a worry to those who rely on them either for wages or for hope for the future. All parents worry concerning their children’s future.

If you were a member of a sports team, you would exercise in training sessions so as not to let your team members down. You would try to stay fit and strive to score points. You can strive to do the same in any team situation. Pull your weight at work and one day the boss will notice and you will rise on faster than the one who only does enough to keep their job.

The same in your local community, keep your garden tidy. Nobody wants to live next to a junk yard. Enquire of your elderly neighbours if they require a hand with the shopping or getting to the doctor’s especially if the weather is poor. Do not imagine that politicians have got all the bases covered. They have not and they are giving up more bases each month.

Take an interest in local politics. Maybe, you can do it better. Who knows where an interest in local politics will take you if you work for others and show you care. Too many of us ordinary people have left politics to the ambitious and greedy and look what they have left us with.

Alarm Clocks And Online Collaboration

Have you ever bought a piece of equipment that you thought could come in really handy only to leave it lying around for months because you could not work out how to set it up? Or not set all the features up, because it would have cost hours to read through the handbook, which looked as if it had been translated by a computer anyway?

Many individuals have undergone the situation at some time or another. I had an alarm clock once that had dozens of functions like waking me up at diverse times on the weekend to during the week and randomly selecting a radio channel every day to wake me up. It also had a feature with which I could train it to recognize some voice commands, but I could not be bothered with all that.

I simply wanted it to get me up whenever I set it. Video recorders are similar devices. How many times do you hear of people setting their video recorder to record a movie only to get a documentary on another channel? It used to happen a lot, didn’t it?

The point that I am getting at here is that the designers of these machines have been told to put as many functions as possible into them up to a price in order to be all things to all people. However, in making their machines so convoluted, a lot of people decide not to bother using them at all and will avoid that make in the future, which is the exact opposite of what the manufacturers wanted.

The next time you go out looking for some electrical gadget, you will say to yourself: “Oh, So-And-So, you need a degree to use one by So-And-So. I’m not buying one of theirs”.

So how can this affect you? Well, if you have to organize anything that you want others to take part in or be animated about, try not to make it overly complicated. I am not saying ‘dumb-down’, just don’t show off by putting all the bells and whistles on it simply to show that you can do that. People will not thank you for it, they will ignore your project.

This has a great deal of implications for on line projects where people can be hundreds of miles apart but still be collaborating on a joint project from home. Open source programming is a fine example of this kind of work. The team leaders should keep everything as simple as possible if they want the utmost co-operation.

One way that you can use to test to see if your project is being understood is to ask. It sounds self-evident and it should be, but a lot of team leaders will not ask because they think that it makes them look weak and unknowledgable. Again, in fact, the opposite is the case. A good team leader is not a tyrant; a good team leader is a good organizer and is considerate.

Fear In School And Homeschooling

Do you have happy memories of your school years? Do you have happy memories of teachers and school friends? If you do then you were lucky, because some children hate each minute of being in school and not because they are no good at it either. Frequently it is the clever kids who are taunted for being swots and teachers’ pets. They are safe in the class, but the travelling to and from school and the school breaks can become nightmares.

However, it is not just bullying from other children that causes fear in school children. There are other reasons for fear in school too. Sometimes, children think that a particular teacher does not like them and occasionally children are just afraid of failing or doing badly. Sometimes teachers are afraid of doing badly as well. It can all lead to an atmosphere of fear at school. It makes you ask yourself how anyone could have enjoyed their school days, does it not?

This atmosphere of fear can get greater in state schools because the teachers are subject to success charts and the children are more open to bullying. Furthermore, all of the school shootings in the world have taken place in state run schools.

However, the most insidious form of fear in school emanates from teachers who are afraid of missing the targets set by the state, because that will cost them their posts. This fear is passed on to their pupils. The regime of fear is made worse by over-sized groups. Why?

Because teachers can hold the attention of only so many pupils – as we all can in regular discourse. Therefore, if the class is too big, the teacher will have to switch roles from being a teacher to a controller. When this happens, education suffers for the sake of keeping order.

For all of these reasons and more, many crowd are turning to home schooling. Some of the reasons why parents are deciding to educate their children themselves are: distrust of the state education system; fear of bullying or worse of their children; a desire to educate their children in a more conventional or religious fashion.

There are learning packages that parent-teachers can buy to give them a course of action on what to teach. There is also a lot of help accessible on the Net. The problem facing any parents who wish to educate their own children is providing an all round education.

People have a natural tendency to specialize in one topic or group of topics like, say, astronomy or the sciences, which is why schools supply many teachers, so that each one can teach his or her favourite subject. However, if you are the only teacher you will have to teach all the subjects yourself.

This is why it is best to have a program or set of guidelines to follow. It is difficult to teach maths if you have no aptitude for it, so look at your strengths but also your weaknesses before you take the momentous decision to remove your children from school and teach them themselves

Home Schooling And Its Effects On The Family

If a survey by the National Center For Education Statistics is to be believed, roughly 1.1 million children took home schooling in 2005 alone. That’s a great deal of children. Not so long ago, homeschooling used to be a radical statement – something like a declaration of independence.

It was the right-wing Christians who pushed for homeschooling in the 1980’s and legalized it in every State. But nowadays the average homeschooling pupil is not religiously motivated.

Later surveys indicate that parents are actually fed up with the public school system where a lot of the learning is superficial and compulsory. They are also concerned about the negative environment in school, which ranges from drugs and abuse to negative peer pressure.

As a result, we have a surprising mix of people who make up the homeschooling world of today. They cut across all religious creeds and all regional borders. Their main aim is providing meaningful and productive education through a method that strengthens the bond between the various members of the family.

All these families have one major thing in common – a long enduring commitment to the sanctity of childhood. The children of these families are given a primary position. Many believe, and, probably, rightly so, that home schooling allows parents to bring up their children in a more natural and nurturing environment.

Public schools can make a child anxious, diffident and downright mean. Children who get their education at home are protected from these damaging, negative influences until they reach an age where they can deal with them.

Home-schooling draws the whole family into the quasi religious task of teaching. Everyone is put to work. The parents together form a bond with the children. Any experience can be turned into an learning experience. Both the parents are aware of exactly what is going into their child’s education.

Parents also have a greater control over the kind of religious and moral values that the child is taught. Even watching a film together can become a learning experience. Trips to the libraries, zoos, museums and other places become educational as well as recreational.

A home-schooling family is usually dependent on the income of one earning member. That means that often spending has to be curtailed and proper planning of expenditure is necessary. This helps to bring the family members together and everybody gets involved in the process of saving money.

Just having a parent at home to look after, to nurture and to care for the children brings with it a lot of love and caring. Even the husband chips in and there just is no room for boredom.

Yes OK, problems still do sometimes crop up, and there will be many misgivings in your mind, but when you know that your kids can always rely on you, and your kids know it too, then homeschooling becomes a richly rewarding experience.
