So why should you be paying the premium? Tough times call for more practical measures. On the other hand, you also have to be careful in selecting the ink refills so as not to damage your printer. That would be another expense you don’t want to incur needlessly.

When buying a refill kit, get the one that suits your printer model. You shouldn’t go wrong on this one. Each printer model has its own ink formula for it to work. It just wouldn’t be compatible with any other formula so get the one that would work well with the printer model you have.

Don’t let your cartridge run empty. I’ve made this mistake a few of times and it just totally messed up the printer. You’d have to run the printer maintenance program a hundred times every time you print something out just so it would temporarily correct the damage done to it by a clogged cartridge outlet.

The set of instructions that come with the refill kit should be followed entirely. Never miss anything or you’ll damage the ink cartridge and maybe even the printer head. That would totally defeat the purpose of going cheap as it will end up costing you a whole lot more. Don’t make the mistake of putting the wrong colors in the wrong cartridges. That would obviously give very different results in your printouts. Once you’ve done it, you’d have to replace the cartridge. You also want to keep your work area clean so just like painting the walls, cover enough space with a lot of papers or some cloth so your furniture won’t get stained.

What happens now when you get some ink on your hands? They don’t come off with soap alone. You will have to wash it off with a mild bleach solution mixed with water and then wash the bleach off with the soap.
