Your Vegetarian Baby

If you are reading this piece, the likelihood is that you are at least fifteen years of age, so if you were to make a decision to be a vegetarian right now, you would have at least fifteen yeas of eating meat behind you and it is hard to change the habits of a lifetime.

Lifestyle alterations are the most difficult to achieve, so it is easier to maintain a vegetarian lifestyle, if you have never eaten meat at all. Therefore, the baby of a vegetarian mother has the best opportunity of maintaining a vegetarian life.

It is a matter of conscience whether a vegan mother should feed her baby on breast milk. There is no reason why she should not do so. Her body is producing milk for her baby, but she might not like to give her baby ‘animal fat products’. It is a bizarre decision to have to make.

After the baby has been weaned, the choices are easier again. You can create fantastic baby food recipes with fresh fruit and vegetables and a blender. Soya is another vegetable product that is useful for your baby’s vegetarian diet because it is one of the few vegetable sources of protein.

Soya is also very adaptable, although not always recommended for very young babies. You can eat or drink soya and you can bake, boil or fry it. It is fairly bland on its own, yet it takes on the flavours of whatever you cook it with, so it can be used to push up the protein content of practically anything.

If you are intent on raising your child as a vegetarian or even a vegan, you have to be very cautious after weaning, not to replace your own milk with cow’s milk. However, this is where you will have to take advice from your doctor and midwife.

Do not let philosophy and principles stand in the way of your baby’s health. If your doctor chooses that your baby actually needs the things that are to be had in cow’s milk, then so be it, unless you seek out a vegetarian doctor for a second opinion.

At around six months of age, babies can start eating cereals. Rice is one of the easiest to digest. You can make a very thin rice meal by boiling the rice in water until it practically disappears, leaving that characteristic white water. Millions of Asian babies grow up on rice water each year.

As a vegetarian of some experience, you will have a good idea about which combinations of food fulfill dietary requirements, so you will be able to use this information to make sure that your baby does not go short of anything, and pay particular attention to any deficiencies that the doctor notices.

Obviously, you have to tell your doctor from the beginning that you are a vegetarian and that you want your baby to be brought up in the same way, because that could well have an impact on the vitamins or supplements that the doctor gives your baby.

Can Anger Management Articles Help?

Anger is an issue which seems to be revealing concern among many people nowadays. Perhaps that is because it is an issue which affects all generations, races, communities. In fact, anger has the potential to touch anybody without prejudice.

It is of great concern to those who have to live with anger every day. Anger not only concerns the person affected but also all those they come into contact with on a daily basis. Because it is such a very important social issue in society today, people are always striving to develop programs to help those affected by anger-related issues.

Reading anger management articles may be beneficial to someone who is affected by anger. There are different types of anger management articles, different in that they target specific groups such as teenagers, adults, men, women, couples, families and other groups affected by anger.

These articles are informational; endowing individuals with powerful knowledge regarding the problems of dealing with anger, anxiety, frustration and aggression. With guest writers and specialists in the area of anger management, these articles are stuffed full with interesting details and effective tools that people can take home and use to transform their feelings of anger and frustration into healthy, normal feelings.

Reading an anger management article can provide a person with an opportunity to acquire new knowledge on anger management, which may in turn provide some relief; a chance for people struggling with daily feelings of anger, rage and frustration to find hope and encouragement. This would not only allow a victim or his friends/family to find some hope, but it would also provide them a chance to realize that others also face similar challenges. Sharing personal experiences may help people to own up to their problem and perhaps discover underlying reasons for their anger and frustration.

A huge part of helping an individual work through anger-related issues is support. Assuring the person that they have people to count on, people who will stand by them no matter what may arise, this is extremely relevant to people who are fighting daily to overcome problems with anger. Encouragement is also important. Encouraging the individual to go to support group meetings, talk to a counsellor or read an anger management article may make a huge difference in their treatment.

Yes, society appears to have a massive problem with violence, aggression, frustration and anger but, society is also attempting to create anger management programs to help decrease this sociological problem. Providing anger management certified people to work in public places such as schools, corrections, mental health centres, society is proving they are concerned. Aside from visiting counselors, doctors and treatment facilities, people can also attend anger management courses and read anger management articles and books.

These opportunities are available to people who are serious about making positive changes in their lives, it would be in their best interest to accept the opportunity. Reading anger management articles might be the turning point for an individual. If the article is effective in reaching just one person and making positive changes in their life and the lives of those around them, it was certainly worth writing it.

Vacation Rental Homes

Many people that go on vacation have a preference to rent a home in their destination rather than staying in a hotel. Most of these people do this because it gives them the freedom to cook their own food and eat out when they like without missing set meals that they have previously paid for.

It can be more difficult to find such a vacation rental than just booking a hotel reservation. However, most holiday makers say that the endeavor is worthwhile. There are a few points that you should check up on if you are not to be disappointed when you get there.

It is very useful if you have friends or family living in the destination locale and if you do have this advantage, you should use it, but all is far from lost if you do not. There are often agencies for these kinds of vacation rentals as many people who live in such places rent their homes out in the peak period and they do this through those agencies.

There are also quite a few web sites specializing in home rentals for holiday purposes. Some of these Internet agencies just charge on behalf of the property owner and others can arrange swaps, which is a great, low-priced way to travel the world.

The surveys that these web sites carry out are often quite comprehensive, containing such predictable information as the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, but also such details as whether there is a phone, a car, bicycles or scooters on the premises, along with distance to the shops, main road, airport, train and bus stations.

However, if you have any questions still unanswered, you are usually encouraged to ask them directly to the property owner via the agency’s web link. It is a good idea to rent a holiday home through a rental agency for safety purposes, because if a problem does arise then you have a mediator on hand. In these situations the agency would handle the whole affair, up to the point of criminal proceedings.

You may also like to ask about the age of the property, because often the day to day maintenance of the place is down to you while you are there, as are breakages, unless those things are covered by the owner’s insurance policy.

You should also find out whether you are allowed to make use of the home owner’s bedding, linen, and towels etc.. Often you just consider the house and its contents as your own, unless a cupboard or door is locked and you have not been given the key.

One last piece of advice is to get suitable directions. Places that you are not familiar will look very different in the dark than they do in the daylight, particularly if the property is off the beaten track.

Therefore, if you are expecting to arrive late or if there is a likelihood that you might be held up, ask for photographs of key points taken in the twilight. It will make certain that you get to your destination vacation home rental with no difficulties.

Some Interesting Facts About Deafness

There are quite a few innovations that came about because some of the participants were deaf. You can often see these innovations in every day life and you may even use some of them yourself without knowing where the notion came from. This should not be surprising given that almost ten percent of people are either deaf or hard of hearing.

In fact, some level of deafness affects about 22 million US citizens and they are spread fairly evenly over the entire spectrum of the population – men, women and children; young an old; black and white; upper and lower class. Some were born with deafness and others developed it as the consequence of an accident or through old age or several other ways as well.

I would like to give a few examples of how people suffering from deafness have influenced our everyday society.

The huddle in American football is not done only so that the opposition cannot overhear strategy, often they are quite far away. It was first arranged by a college for the deaf, because otherwise the captain would have had to shout, which of course could have been overheard by the opposition quite a long way away.

If you love baseball, then you will have heard of the Cincinnati Reds. Well, it was their deaf centre fielder, William Hoy, who began all the hand signals that you now see during every baseball game.

Shorthand is maybe not used so much now as it once was, but it used to be essential on a secretary’s curriculum vitae not very long ago. It was or still is thought to be the only way to take down conversations at, say a board meeting accurately. Shorthand was also invented by a deaf person, namely John Gregg.

Most deaf people use sign language, which is known as signing. It is a pity that every spoken language came up with its own sign language, so that deaf people did not have the first truly international language, but there is a lot of work being done in that direction. Signing may become the first truly internationally understood language.

Scuba divers were fast to pick up on the convenience of signing and it is extensively used by divers all over the world. Scuba or deep sea divers do use an internationally acknowledged set of signals.

Being deaf is recognized as a disability and justly so, but imagine what the world of music, or even the Western world itself, would be like if it had not been for Beethoven? He was totally deaf when he wrote the Ninth Symphony.

Alexander Graham Bell was not deaf himself, but he was working on a technique to help his deaf wife when he invented the telephone. He had also helped teach deaf children as well.

Eric Clapton and Peter Townsend of the former band ‘The Who’ are deaf, as is Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. It just goes to show that deafness does not preclude you from any occupation. Deafness is a disability, but many deaf people have shown that their hearing difficulty is not going to ruin their lives.

If Companies Have Been Tracking You, Is Anyone Keeping Track of Them or What They Do

Weary of those bothersome advertisings that immediately pop up on your screen? Do you wish for more freedom and safety every time you surf the net? Do you desire a superior way of opting out of electronic tracking? Finally, privacy and security on the world wide web is now better and simpler.

For quite a long time, debates have been centered on how consumers will enjoy more freedom from electronic tracking. Regulators have, for a long time, pressured internet companies to incorporate these features in their browsers. In the end Google and Mozilla acted positively on this. They have just announced that their browsers would include features that would permit opting out of tracking. Now, people can decide how they would behave on the web. One can now stay permanently out of the internet monitoring system. Numerous advertisers and data profilers used to follow web-based behavior. From this they can build profiles and deliver tailored advertisements to target consumers.

Large online advertisers and data trackers including Google and Yahoo initiated this move. They would now permit users to easily opt out of tracking on their sites. It used to be that opting out was somewhat difficult and more demanding. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer would add a feature where consumers could intentionally block monitoring efforts.

Because not all consumers are aware that they could be tracked on the internet they have to be educated. This feature is now incorporated in lots of net browsers. The choice is given to the consumer whether he allows his activities to be tracked or not. But there is an added point that must be given thought. It is the user-friendliness of this feature. Numerous users would not bother to make use of features that they find difficulty using. Two of the most important criteria should be clarity and simplicity.

To protect online privacy, the Federal Trade Commission has suggested ways sometime last year. There are clear and simple ways of opting out of data monitoring that consumers can make use of. This has somehow stirred these Internet firms to improve their internet based privacy and security conditions. This of course is with the guarantee that their businesses would be affected favorably.

There are some loopholes that Congress has to fill in. There can be a disagreement between Internet companies having their specific goals and consumers having their individual wishes too. Congress should at least have a hand in closing this void. For one, it can oblige all advertising and tracking businesses to value privacy.

Online tracking is a very real problem. One way to stop web monitoring is to use a Proxy to foil websites from tracking you.

How Do People Become Deaf?

Many individuals have asked themselves how you become deaf at one time or another. The thing is though that it is not always an easy question to answer, since some people are born deaf and others go deaf. Here are some of the main causes of deafness in later life, that is, they are not birth defects.

Unrelenting very loud music can affect your eardrums and result in a measure of deafness or even absolute deafness. So, when your parents were warning you to turn the music down when you were a child, they were talking sense. Studies have shown that noisy music leads to deafness.

Indeed, rock stars such as Eric Clapton believe that playing on stage before very loud speakers is a direct contributory factor to deafness amongst rock musicians. Deafness from loud music is most likely to occur if the musicians play loud music on a recurrent basis, which is exactly what happens when a band is on tour.

Actors and actresses run a pretty high risk of having their hearing impaired by props and special effects. For example, President Reagan had to use a hearing aid in later life and he ascribed that to one day on a set when a gun was fired too near to his head by mistake. Imagine the effect on the hearing of repeated explosions and gun shots in a war film or a cowboy movie.

Sometimes children go deaf as the result of sickness or disease or even puberty. Sometimes this kind of deafness wears off but sometimes it does not. Catarrh can also cause deafness in children although this may only be short-term.

Some babies are born deaf and sometimes the cause is genetic or it could be caused by such illnesses as cytomegalovirus or toxolasmosis. In fact, there several ‘children’s illnesses’ that can lead to deafness if they are not treated quickly and correctly. Ototoxic drugs can also cause deafness as can some other medications.

Premature babies that are were born with jaundice run the risk of being born deaf or of going deaf early in life as do babies that underwent a lack or shortage of oxygen because of an awkward delivery.

People lose their hearing steadily as they get older as well. This is a normal part of the aging process and it could be due to the collective effect of all the loud noise, all the illnesses and their remedies that we have sustained in our lives.

If you work in a loud environment such as a quarry, a construction site, in the military or at an airport, you should use ear protectors, otherwise your hearing will probably deteriorate slowly. So gradually, that you do not realize it until someone tells you that the TV is too loud.

You should take care of your hearing and teach your children to do the same from an early age. Young peoples’ hearing is not fully developed and so it can be more easily damaged. Therefore, try to keep your young children away from loud noises, including loud music.

Is Vegetarianism All Right For Expectant Mothers?

There is nothing per se wrong with following a vegetarian regime if you are expecting a baby. Whether you were a vegetarian before you became pregnant or you have decided to be a vegetarian now that you are pregnant, the issue is the same as that for all mothers-to-be: namely, to make sure that you and the baby get all the vitamins and nutrients that you both require.

This is a slightly harder quest if you are just starting off down the vegetarian road because of your lack of knowledge, yet it is not that difficult. There is so much knowledge on the Net and in books now, and the doctors will be monitoring you, so you ought not miss out on anything you both require.

Your baby will have to grow a few pounds of bones, so calcium is one of your main priorities but it is also one of the nutrients that a non-vegetarian can leave meat to provide. If you are at the stage of being a vegetarian where you eat meals of meat and three veg but without the meat, you must have a serious rethink, and you could take supplements and eat tofu, broccoli and other dark green leafy vegetables like spinach and cabbage.

Vitamin D is simple, yet you do require a regular quantity of it. Our skin synthesizes Vitamin D from sunlight, so you need to go out in the sun for half an hour a day or more. However, it is no good going out in the midday sun with suntan lotion on.

It is better to go outside in the early morning or late afternoon when the sun is less likely to burn you. It does not even have to be bright sunlight for your body to obtain Vitamin D.

Vitamin B12 is abundant in red meat, yet hardly present at all in plants. However, there are a few vegetable sources of vitamin B12: soya (tofu) is one of them and vitamin-enhanced vegetarian products (usually cereals) are another.

Even so, you will almost certainly have to take supplements to acquire enough vitamin B12 for an expectant mother. Fortunately, your doctor will be keeping an eye on your Vitamin B12 intake and he or she will be able to counsel you.

You will also need plenty of iron, which is also abundant in meat, and also in numerous vegetables. You have to have iron to keep your blood in decent shape and a lack of iron shows up as aenemia.

Again, dark green, leafy vegetables are the order of the day here as are beans, seeds and nuts. However, due to the quantity of iron that you will require, you might need supplements for this one too.

You require protein. A normal diet gets protein from dairy products like milk and cheese; from eggs and from meat and fish. You might or you might not be eating some of those products, but if you are not then you will have to derive your protein from somewhere else. Tofu is a good source of vegetable protein, but vegetable protein is a fairly hard one to find if you do not like tofu.

You will require zinc which again is abundant in meat. If you are looking for a vegetable source there are lots in all manner of grains – all the different sorts of grains including those used for bread,

Is A Non-Vegetarian Diet Healthy?

Some individuals say that many of the items that are in a regular western diet are inherently bad for adult human beings. Their argument basically goes that if we were to cut out these things, then we would live longer, healthier lives. Before we take a look at some of these items, I want to point out that not everybody agrees with these points of view.

One of the most well-liked foodstuffs that is not much use to adult human beings is milk. Animal milk is simply too rich for humans and besides that it is acidic and mucous-forming Think about it: why would we be designed to require the milk of other animals after we have been weaned off our own mother’s milk because we no longer required it? It sounds ludicrous, does it not?

Maybe the reason we are told to drink milk is so that farmers can sell it to us. Some of the major worries with drinking milk is the amount of chemicals and growth hormones that were fed to the cow.

It stays in the milk for the benefit of her calves, and we drink the same cocktail of drugs and hormones that is intended to force calfs grow. Unfortunately, the antibiotics given to the cow and the pesticides in her feed also show up in the milk she produces. Regrettably for us humans that is. Milk is also charged with cholesterol and it’s calcium content is a problem for humans to extract.

It is often said that drinking milk will help stave off osteoporosis because of the high calcium content of milk, but if it is a problem for us to extract, then that is a very dubious claim. Why take the chance when you can simply take a couple of calcium pills? In rural Thailand very, very few individuals eat any dairy products at all yet a lack of calcium is not a local concern.

Eggs are not that healthy for you either because they are high in cholesterol. They also contain growth hormones, pesticides and antibiotics for the same reasons that milk does. Salmonella is a serious danger if the chickens are not dosed up to the eyeballs with antibiotics. Eggs can also result in constipation.

Fish is considered a healthy alternative to meat, yet you have to be cautious with that too nowadays. There is so much heavy metal is some fish like tuna and salmon, that it is recommended not to eat these fish more than once a week.

So it cannot be good to eat it at all if you are eating doses of mercury and whatever else too.

Of course, not all vegetarians stay away from all the foodstuffs listed above. In fact, most vegetarians will eat fish, a few less will eat cheese, eggs and drink milk. The smallest group of common vegetarian creeds is the vegans who will eat none of the above – no animal products whatsoever is allowed to pass their lips.

The Land Of Song – Wales

Wales has a long history of music and has been known as the ‘land of song’ since at least the Nineteenth Century. This reference to Wales as the land of song, probably comes from the passionate singing in Welsh churches and at Welsh sports meetings, particularly at rugby matches. However, Wales’ links with music go much further back than that.

Wales has a tradition of folk music which is closely associated with Scottish and Irish folk music. There are several kinds of musical gathering that resemble those in other Celtic countries in the United Kingdom. For example there is the twmpath (folk dance session), g?yl werin (folk festival) and noson lawen (a traditional party comparable to the Gaelic “C?ilidh”).

Modern Welsh folk musicians have often resurrected traditions which had been suppressed or forgotten, and have competed with imported and indigenous rock and pop trends. This has been especially true since the 1990’s.

Despite modern Welsh trends in music, Wales will always be linked with Male Voice Choirs such as the Morriston Orpheus Choir and Treorchy Male Voice Choir which enjoy world wide fame.

These choirs were frequently made up of workers from one village or one coal mine and so it was quite natural for men to sing when one town played against another, particularly when that game was Wales’ national sport of rugby. The first time the Welsh National Anthem, ‘Yr Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau’ (‘The Old Country of my Fathers’, usually translated as ‘Land of My Fathers’), was sung at an International sporting event was in 1905

Along side the choirs, brass bands sprang up in villages, working men’s clubs, churches and at work particularly in South Wales where brass bands are still very popular. In fact, the Cory Band is one of the most successful brass bands in the world.

There were more than a few world famous Welsh singers in the Twentieth Century and some of them are still singing to packed audiences worldwide. Ivor Novello was one of the first who became well-known during the First World War as a singer songwriter. Then there was Geraint Evans and Delme Bryn-Jones during the Second World War.

After that, Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey began their singing careers in the 1950’s and are still singing fifty years later. There were also popular bands during the Seventies and Eighties such as Man and Budgie and solo singers such as Shakin’ Stevens, nnie Tyler and John Cale (Velvet Underground).

In more recent times, we have seen the Manic Street Preachers, Catatonia, Super Furry Animals and Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci; the latter two bands being notable for lots of their songs’ words being in Welsh.

There have always been operatic singers too such as Rebecca Evans, Aled Jones, Bryn Tervel and Charlotte Church. Cardiff holds the ‘Singer of the World’ competition and the Wales also has its very own Eisteddfod, where Pavarotti sang for years. It was because of Wales tradition as a nation of singers that Paul Robeson visited Wales in the Fifties

Quick Vegetarian Cooking

A lot of people think that they just would not have the time to become vegetarians. This is because if you cut the meat out of a standard diet, you will become malnourished. You need to replace the nutrients and vitamins available in meat with the same or similar nutrients and vitamins in other foodstuffs like lentils, beans, pulses, nuts and legumes.

This means that vegetarians need to plan their meals more precisely that meat-eaters, but it does not have to be an obsession. There are fairly simple ways of procuring all your mind and body requires.

It is almost certainly true to say that it is more difficult to plan meals properly whilst you first become a vegetarian, but you will soon get the hang of preparing meals that are nutritious and healthy. However, that gets harder and harder, the more foodstuffs that you leave out from your diet.

Some vegetarians will eat fish but some will not; some vegetarians will eat eggs and dairy products, and others will not. The more dedicated the vegetarian the more a problem it is to replenish the vitamins that you are lacking by not eating meat.

One manner of looking at how difficult it is to become a vegetarian is by remembering that meat needs to be cooked yet fruit and vegetables do not (or not all of them anyway).

Sandwiches are also a very fast vegetarian snack and you ought to take full advantage of all the different kinds of bread on the market to vary the flavours and the benefits from the ingredients.

Each cook should understand how to make a casserole and this is also true of vegetarian cooks. Maybe the best manner of cooking a casserole is in a crock pot, so if you have not got one yet, buy one as soon as you can. After using your crock pot for a week, you will be asking yourself how you ever made the time to live without one before.

You can prepare important vegetarian casseroles for your family when you are at work or doing something else and there are thousands of vegetarian crock pot recipes without having to resort to using a meat recipe and only leaving out the meat.

The attraction of a crock pot is that you can prepare all sorts of food in it, not only casseroles. You can create puddings, breads and cakes, but that can become the topic of future articles. The other godsend to the busy cook is the microwave. You can microwave potatoes and other vegetables in minutes instead of roasting them for hours with the meat.

So next time you or someone else says that you do not have time to become a vegetarian, bear in mind that technology has moved on from the Seventies and it is a lot easier nowadays. There is a lot more known about vegetarianism now and that knowledge is much more broadly available – particularly over the Web and there are also better cooking devices like programmable crock pots and microwaves.
